UniKalk Forte is recommended for people who get a lot, but not enough calcium through the diet and who also need a high supplement of vitamin D. Also available with citrus flavors. Calcium is needed for the maintenance of normal bones. In women 50+, calcium and vitamin D help to limit the loss of bone mineral in women of postmenopausal age. Low bone mineral density is a risk factor in relation to bone fractures due to osteoporosis. For women 50+, the beneficial effect is achieved by a daily intake of at least 1200 mg of calcium and 20 µg of vitamin D from all sources. Vitamin D helps to reduce the risk of falling, which is associated with balance problems and muscle weakness. Falling is a risk factor in relation to bone fractures in men and women aged 60 years and over. If women and men 60+ get the beneficial effect, a daily intake of 20 µg of vitamin D from all sources is achieved.
